The Compensation Framework Project
The “Strategic Compensation Framework Project 2008” was designed to help you do three things:
1. Job Descriptions
Prepare or update job descriptions for your agency or organization. This Web site provides sample descriptive information and a sample template for describing jobs. Once you have job description information, you can match jobs in your organization to jobs that are commonly found in employment services agencies and organizations. A list of 12 key job families is provided for job matching.
2. Calculating Compensation
From data that is specific to the matching jobs you have in your agency or organization, you will provide parameters such as the number of subordinates for each job, your organization’s geographic region, and whether the job is unionized. The Web site will provide estimated pay ranges for these jobs and take your factors into account. It will also provide estimates of comparators and competitors for similar jobs in Ontario. Your results will be summarized and available to be saved and printed.
3. Compensation Guide: A Manual on Compensation Practice and Theory
Learn more about compensation practices and theory by reviewing, downloading or purchasing the Compensation Guide: A Manual on Compensation Practice and Theory. This manual includes a comprehensive glossary of terms and a bibliography.
The Ontario Network of Employment Skills Training Project (ONESTEP) is a province-wide umbrella organization that promotes community-based training (CBET) and provides a range of capacity building services that support the viability of organizations within the employment sector. The Strategic Compensation Framework Project (SCF), supported by Employment Ontario, is one of ONESTEP’s initiatives that responds to the human resources needs of our member agencies. The SCF project addresses compensation issues related to the recruitment and retention of highly skilled staff in the employment sector by providing three deliverables: the bilingual compensation guide that will provide the key elements of an employer compensation framework; the evaluation and comparison of twelve key positions across the public, private and not-for profit employment sectors, which will be used to inform stakeholders on the variances in wage and job descriptions, and on-line compensation tools that will facilitate job matching and comparing salaries in organizations.
