ONESTEP’s Strategic Compensation Framework Project Launch
The time has finally arrived to launch ONESTEP’s Compensation Framework Web site. You will receive a username/password to access the site by the end of today. We invite you to share the tools and information with your colleagues in the employment services sector and beyond.
The “Strategic Compensation Framework Project 2008” is supported by Employment Ontario and ONESTEP to address the key components of compensation and create useful tools to help organizations with their compensation practices. It is designed to help you do three things:
1. Job Descriptions
Prepare or update job descriptions for your agency or organization.
This Web site provides sample descriptive information and a sample template for describing jobs. Once you have job description information, you can match jobs in your organization to jobs that are commonly found in employment services agencies and organizations. A list of 12 key job families is provided for job matching.
2. Calculating Compensation
From data that is specific to the matching jobs you have in your agency or organization, you will provide parameters such as the number of subordinates for each job, your organization’s geographic region, and whether the job is unionized. The Web site will provide estimated pay ranges for these jobs and take your factors into account. It will also provide estimates of comparators and competitors for similar jobs in Ontario. Your results will be summarized and available to be saved and printed.
3. Compensation Guide
A Manual on Compensation Practice and Theory Learn more about compensation practices and theory by reviewing, downloading or purchasing the Compensation Guide: A Manual on Compensation Practice and Theory. This manual includes a comprehensive glossary of terms and a bibliography.
